Ráadásul annyira jól kezdte a szezonját az F2-ben, hogy egy ideig szóra jött, hogy a kanadai máris helyettesíthetné Kubicát még év vége előtt, de ezen spekulációk elültek.Ha mennie kellene a 35 éves pilótának a mezőnyből, akkor az derékba törné azon igyekezetét is, amellyel visszatért a királykategóriába a súlyos 2011-es rali balesetét
