És működött!\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>A projekt a csehországi Kladnóban zajlott, ahol a két cég összesen 23 tervező, mérnök és építési szakember részvételével Lego Tecnic-elemekből egy működő, 1:1-es méretarányú sportautó megépítésébe fogott. Szénszálelemek használata nélkül, amit csak lehet, legóból raktak össze – persze a jármű működéséhez elengedhetetlen tartozékok, mint a motor, a kerekek és az elektronika kivételt képeztek.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Összesen 342817 legódarabból állt össze az autó, amelyek tömege 380 kg-ot tett ki. Az építéshez 8344 munkaórára volt szükség, ami 347 napnyi, vagyis közel egy évnyi megszakítás nélküli munkára fordítható át.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>A cél az volt, hogy bizonyítsák a Lego-McLaren működőképességét, ehhez pedig ezt az építészeti remekműnek is beillő modellt elszállították Silverstone-ba, majd elhívták az F1-es csapat pilótáját, Lando Norrist, hogy tegyen vele egy próbát.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>„Sajnállak titeket, hogy ezt meg kellett építenetek!” – jegyezte meg a készítőknek Norris a hosszadalmas és aprólékos munka eredményét látva. Ezt követően a brit pilóta felvette sisakját, beült az autóba, ami pedig tényleg el is indult vele. A bokszutcába visszatérve úgy összegezte tapasztalatait, hogy a vezetés érzése nagyon hasonlít egy valódi autóéhoz. Hozzátette, padlógázon vette be a híres Copse-kanyart, bár arról nem szólnak a jelentések, hogy milyen maximális sebességre volt képes a Lego McLarenje.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cdiv
