A McLaren már felkereste az F1 szerződéseket vizsgáló szervezetét, akik rábólintottak Piastri érkezésére. Ha valóban kiadná a wokingi csapat Ricciardo útját, akkor a 32 éves pilótának nem sok lehetősége maradna. Az Alpine és a Williams még opció lehet, ám ha nem tudna megegyezni a két istállóval, akkor búcsúznia kellene a sportágból.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Ricciardo viszont nem akar kispadra kerülni.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>„Hiszem, hogy van még helyem itt. Jól érzem magam és véleményem szerint ide tartozom és képes vagyok jól szerepelni. Ez az ami igazán felpörget, valamint az a tudat, hogy bármelyik hétvégén odakeveredhetek a jó pozíciókba. Szeretem ezt a versenyt… hiszen csak 20 ember űzheti ezt a sportot a világon. Ez mindössze 0,001 százaléka a csoportnak. Nem csak a csoport része akarok lenni,  hanem versenyezni is szeretnék, hiszen önmagában már ez is egyedüli dolog. Én ezt imádom. Azok a csúcsok, amiket sikerül elérned, olyan magasak, mert annyi minden van rajtuk és bennük. Természetesen mindeközben kockázatot is vállalsz. Például egy verseny megnyerésé nem abból áll, hogy egy vasárnap autóba ültél. Mentálisan és fizikailag megerőltetted a testedet, és a csapattal együtt kockára tettél mindent.
