Brazíliában így nyilatkozott erről:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>„Egy új kalandba vágok a HWA-val a Formula E-ben, amit már nagyon várok. Nem megyek gyakorlatilag téli szünetre, hanem egyből átváltok abba a szériába. Azon jár az agyam, hogy miképp végezhetnék még jobb munkát ott, így bármi is történik majd, arról most nehéz is lenne beszélni. Láttunk, hogy a versenyzői piac idén nyáron kissé megbolondult, és senki nem azt kapta, amire igazán számított. Ilyesmi előfordulhat még, és ki tudja azt előre, hogy mi fog történni? Jelenleg a Formula E-re koncentrálok, és megpróbálom a legjobbamat nyújtani ott.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Vandoorne úgy érzi, hogy tanult a Forma-1-ből, de elismeri, hogy csalódást keltő a két évnyi szereplése a száguldó cirkuszban:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>„Egyértelmű, hogy nem ez volt a két legjobb szezonom. Remek időszakot töltöttem el a McLarennél juniorként, támogattak abban, hogy eljussak a Forma-1-ig. Ez a két év amit eltöltöttem velük az F1-ben az tapasztalatnak jó volt, de örültem volna annak, ha többet lehettem volna harcban. Az időzítés a Forma-1-hez azt hiszem, hogy jó volt, a megfelelő csapatnál voltam, a megfelelő támogatással. A versenyképességünk azonban az elmúlt két évben nem volt jó. Jobb lett volna, ha előrébb
